Real Life Wedding at Down Hall

by Katie 30. March 2017 11:15

Frankie and I met back at the cinema via our mutual friend Adam in 2009, after a stalk on Facebook (by Frankie) to get Laura's number and a few secret dates we finally made it official in the November.

We brought our first house in 2011 and finally moved in together, then Laura decided to go to university full time to become an Operating Department Practitioner.

The course ended in August 2015, and Frankie popped the question on a very romantic picnic trip he had planned in Hatfield forest with our little dog Bailey.

We didn't know where to start, so on our weekly trip down to mayfield farm, we popped into see Malcom from Gracie day, had a good chat and knew we needed to get the ball rolling.

We contacted Anna Oliver, after having a birthday afternoon tea at down hall a few years back, we knew no where else would be better but Down Hall. On our first meeting we knew it had to be there, from the moment you get onto the drive, it just feels special, the attention to detail the staff created for us, and luckily we got to walk around before a wedding took place, it was absolutely breathtaking.

We went on holiday and decided to get some ideas together, we wanted a very elegant theme to suit the building, teaming in some very classic pink and grey themes into the look.  So now we had an idea, we were able to start getting heads together with suppliers to put our vision into action.

The lead up to the wedding, attending the wedding open days, meeting suppliers was all great fun! We chose lovelight, firework crazy, intricate designs and Gracie day as they were recommended suppliers and wowie they did not let us down. Dean and Liz at lovelight, and Malcom at Gracie day could not do more for you!

The dress was a big part of the day! After Laura had a shopping trip with her Mum and my sister she purchased a beautiful Vera wang gown, a pair of Christian loubuitons and four Vera wang bridesmaid dresses, Laura felt like she was in wedding heaven!!

The boys headed to Jeff banks for their silk cut tails, who the staff were an absolute treat to be around and to work with.

Our cake was by dawn from dawns cake couture, and we did feel like we had set her a huge task asking for a flawless cake, however she did not let us down, working along side our florist too so we could have fresh flowers on the cake.

c&k studios produced our wedding video, they are a couple from Suffolk, who we loved every minuet working with, the film they produced was incredible, a beautiful way to highlight and capture our special day.

Leanne West photography produced our wedding photos, which were absolutely splendid. We couldn't have asked for a better person around us on the day, she was so cool, chilled and relaxed, but up most professional at all times.

Makeup by karleigh marsh MUA, now myself and karleigh go years back from working together, she is now a professional MUA, working with celebs on a daily bases, now myself and the girls all said she made us feel like absolute superstars on the day.

The menu tasting was to die for! we felt like we were in foodies heaven! We wish we could have had everything on the menu for our guests!

After over a year of planning it was here! Phone calls from suppliers and Anna from Down Hall almost daily just to check in, make sure we were both ok and that we didn't need anything.

The day before we exclusively booked the spa, and then had a big gathering with food at the bar in Down Hall, to celebrate with friends and family who had traveled far.

The morning of the wedding the girls were all up in the gallery with the boys in the west wing.

The duty manger ran upstairs to pull back the curtains in my bedroom to show me what a beautiful day it was! I couldn't believe it, sunshine in the middle of November!!

Breakfast for the girls was brought to the rooms where we sat in the middle of the gallery all together whilst hair and makeup took place.

Anna and the team checked in during the morning on all of us, making sure we were ok, cool and collective.

From that moment on, our day ran perfectly, mark the toast master kept everyone on the ball, including insuring that we spent good time together during the day.

The staff set up everything to how we had wanted it and more, we couldn't have asked for better care and attention to detail on our special day.

We managed to keep the fireworks a surprise from all the guests, who believed they were just going outside for a group shot and sparklers.  We then partied the night away, before heading to the gorgeous bridal suit for bed!

In the morning Down Hall had organised two private breakfast rooms for us and all our guests which was a great way to keep up the atmosphere and listen to everyone tell us what a great time they had.

Our day at Down Hall is something we wish we could do every day, it honestly was perfect.

We still get people talking about what a beautiful day, and how much detail went into the planning.

We look forward to going back yearly and reminssining over the beautiful day we had. We can not thank the team enough for creating our perfect day beyond our imagination.
