Midsummer Bohemia

by emma 18. July 2013 11:10

It seems 70′s bohemia styling is really having a moment right now, we celebrated all things floppy hat and floral crown in our Sunshine State Of Mind shoot and it seems dress designer Dana Bolton is also embracing the aesthetic.

And beautiful gowns, Dana is definitely embracing beautiful gowns. Her latest collection of six unstructured yet luxe pieces is exquisite and deliciously photographed in the June sunshine by Kirsten Mavric.

There is a plethora of hair and make-up inspiration as well as some super pretty bouquets and headpieces, I am expecting a veritable pin-athon this afternoon lovelies. And if you are a redhead? LOVING the subtle soft green eyeshadow for W-day as seen on model Victoria.

Angelina Jolie to wear mothers wedding gown

by emma 17. July 2013 12:03

Angelina Jolie has reportedly rethought her wedding plans and wants the ceremony to be a tribute to her late mother.

Earlier this year Angelina underwent a double mastectomy after discovering she was genetically prone to breast cancer. Her mother Marcheline Bertrand died in 2007 after a battle with ovarian cancer and Angelina's aunt died earlier this year also after a cancer battle.

The star has now decided she wants to honour Marcheline in the nuptials.

She was in Hawaii recently scouting for film locations, but as the island was her mom's favourite place she also checked out some wedding venues.

"Since having her operation and losing her aunt, Angelina says that she has been thinking about her mother more than ever, which is why she revisited her dress as an option," an insider told the British edition of Grazia magazine.

"Angie seems to think that it would be very fitting if they had the legal part of the ceremony in Hawaii, wearing her mother's beautiful '70s wedding dress and with only their children around them. It will be a very private, emotional affair.

"Hawaii brings back lots of memories of her mother for Angelina and was the one place that made Marcheline feel really happy."

Angelina and Brad - who raise six children together - are already thought to have looked into getting a marriage license for the island and will wed as soon as possible.

They will still hold a celebration at their French home as planned, with a bash and blessing planned for their loved ones.

"The celebration in France will mainly be a big party for their children, which their friends and family have been told will be held before the end of the summer," the insider explained.

"The legal ceremony will be a special day to remember her mother and to celebrate new beginnings."

Younger Brides No Longer Choosing White Dresses

by emma 11. July 2013 10:38

25 per cent of young brides would not get married in the traditional white dress, and 10 per cent would marry in red, according to a recent study. The findings came as part of a survey about people’s colour choices, conducted by post-it note company 3M. It found that 5 per cent of brides from the ages of 18 – 24 would get married in a pink dress, and 4% in blue. It seems that white dresses remain a popular choice with the slightly older generation, however, with a substantial 85 per cent of 35 – 44 year olds opting for the more traditional choice.

The study also looked the nations’ favourite colours, which colour men would most-likely pick, and which emotions are associated with certain colours. Red is typically associated with love, passion or anger; yellow with happiness; and blue with sadness and Mondays, despite it being named as the UK’s favourite colour overall. Women were found to have their colour choices mainly influenced by their mothers, whilst men were more likely to be swayed by their favourite sports teams.
Karen Haller, of 3M, said: “It’s interesting that mums have had a great impact on their daughters. We all know what colour tones we are drawn to and those we aren’t, it’s just a matter of trusting our intuition. Men will often choose their team’s colour as it gives them a sense of belonging. As human beings we have an innate need to belong to a tribe. In essence, they are creating an emotional connection through colour.”
